What We Teach

At Foundation School of Church Music, we teach many things.

  • Music Theory---We believe that, in order to sing better, a greater knowledge of how music works is very important.  We have several different levels of theory classes to handle different levels of knowledge.

  • Reading Music---The ability to read music is a great asset to our assemblies.  New songs may be introduced much more smoothly as more and more learn how to read music.  We use shape notes, lines and spaces, and relative pitch names to aid our teaching.

  • Writing Music---We have many in our fellowship that depend solely on what is created by those outside of our fellowship as a source for new songs.  We have many that have the ability to create beautiful and inspiring new songs, but do not know how to put them on paper.  Some do not know how to make the words and music fit together.  We teach these things.

  • Leading Singing---The song leader can "make or break" the worship assembly.  It is important that he knows how to pitch, start, and lead the songs in a way that will lead God's people in joyful procession to His throne.

  • Small Group Singing---We work with our students who want to sing in quartets and other small groups.
